Alexandria Huiskens, Esq.
Senior Employment Counsel
Alexandria Huiskens is an employment law attorney with extensive experience representing individuals in complex and high-stakes workplace disputes. Her practice focuses on discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, wage and hour violations, and severance negotiations. She approaches each matter with clarity, strategy, and a deep sense of care for her clients, prioritizing both strong legal outcomes and the restoration of their power and dignity.
Alexandria represents employees in claims arising under Title VII, the ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and other federal and state civil rights laws. Her practice includes appearances before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Illinois Department of Human Rights. She advises clients on employee relations, including internal conflict and compliance issues, and negotiates employment and severance agreements for executives and professionals.
In addition to her employment practice, Alexandria dedicates significant time to pro bono legal efforts focused on civil liberties, individual rights, and expanding access to legal support. As an active member of the National Lawyers Guild, she participates in the Mass Defense and Legal Observer Programs, where she provides legal support to individuals involved in protest movements rooted in racial justice, equity, and global human rights. She also serves on the Guild’s Labor and Employment Committee and supports legal initiatives related to free speech, due process, and equal protection.
Since 2025, Alexandria has been involved in a grassroots advocacy initiative aimed at codifying same-sex marriage in the Michigan Constitution. The effort focuses on ballot access, community engagement, and public education. Alexandria’s involvement centers on legal strategy and reflects her broader commitment to leveraging legal tools to address systemic issues.
During law school, Alexandria served as Editor-in-Chief of the Chicago-Kent Journal of International and Comparative Law and received the CALI Award in Critical Legal Studies for her paper Trapped Bodies: The Prison Industrial Complex, where she analyzed the historical and structural roots of the U.S. carceral system. She externed for the Hon. Franklin U. Valderrama and clerked for immigration law firms, where she supported the filing of over 200 employment-based immigration petitions and assisted travelers impacted by the 2016 federal travel ban.
Alexandria holds a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law and a B.A. in Political Science from Loyola University Chicago. She is a member of NELA, the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the National Lawyers Guild.
