Attorney Joy White

Attorney Frederica “Joy” White brings almost 20 years of experience to her legal practice.  She is a highly skilled litigator and businesswoman with a proven track record of providing meaningful and strategic legal advice to companies and organizations of all sizes ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 corporations in a variety of industries, including hospitality, educational institutions, transportation, healthcare, real estate, and financial institutions. 

Before re-launching The White Legal Group in 2020, Ms. White proudly served Morehouse College for over four years as the Vice President of Legal Affairs, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and College Secretary of Morehouse College. 

As Vice President of Legal Affairs and General Counsel, Ms. White oversaw the legal affairs of the college, and as Chief Compliance Officer, she ensured the implementation of a comprehensive compliance program for the College, including Title IX, internal investigations, institutional research, athletic compliance, and all compliance matters affecting the college.

Ms. White also served Morehouse College as the Secretary of the College and institutional secretary to the Morehouse College Board of Trustees. 

Before joining Morehouse College as General Counsel, Ms. White was a business litigation and labor & employment associate at King & Spalding LLP. 

Attorney White later founded The White Legal Group in 2010 and eventually co-founded McFadden, White, Sprattlin, Davis LLC, an employment law boutique, where she served as the Managing Partner for 2 years. 

Ms. White is licensed to appear in all federal and state courts in the state of Georgia. She is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia, where she sits on the Attorney Wellness Committee, working alongside other Georgia attorneys who are committed to bringing awareness and highlighting the many wellness services and initiatives available to GA attorneys. 

Ms. White is also an active member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) and the Gate City Bar Association. She is a proud alumnus of Leadership Atlanta (Class of 2022) and Leadership Buckhead (Class of 2013) and currently serves on the board of the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence.

Ms. White has been the recipient of numerous professional awards, most notably, 100 Most Influential Blacks Today, Top 100 Women of Influence, Who’s Who in Black Atlanta, Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 under 40, Rising Star in Employment Law (Super Lawyer Magazine), AV-Rated, Preeminent (Martindale-Hubbell), National Black Lawyers Top 100, and Women Leaders in the Law (Fortune Magazine).

Ms. White received her B.A. in English Literature, summa cum laude, and Phi Betta Kappa from Spelman College in 2002 and her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2005.

Ms. White has an unwavering commitment to the support and enrichment of her local community, which she demonstrates by participating in community service initiatives and mentoring young professionals.

In addition to her legal and entrepreneurial endeavors, Ms. White is also an award-winning filmmaker, debuting her first short film Finding Joy in the Journey: A Flawed Masterpiece, based on her journey of healing.

Her debut short film won Best Documentary and Most Inspirational Film at the Cannes World Film Festival and Most Inspirational at the Top Shorts Film Festival. It also qualified as a semi-finalist for Best Narrative Short and Most Inspiring Woman in a Film at the Los Angeles Film Awards.
